Hello, bonjour, Ola...
Before jumping head first into the many blogs I have been eager to share, I wanted you guys to know a little about me...
I have always loved hair + makeup, particularly in films. I love seeing how actors are transformed into different characters and how we can be swept up into a different world or era.
I loved it so much that I started my career working as a trainee makeup Artist on Harry Potter 5. As awesome as this was, my life took me down a different path.
Over the following years I dipped my toes in various areas of the hair + makeup world: Fashion, student catwalks, Photography, a Makeup counter, Salons and finally Weddings. This also came with various locations: Bournemouth, Teddington, Australia, Kingston, Bristol and now Devon!
Wedding hair + makeup...
...seemed to be my perfect fit. I love getting to know people, discovering the vibes they have chosen for their Weddings and working with them to create a look they have always dreamed of (or never thought of)
I love getting brides and their bridal parties ready for the big day ahead. The excitement in that room in the morning is my absolute favourite - feels like Christmas morning.
After working on my own...
...for several years and not being able to take on anymore Brides by myself, I decided to take the plunge in 2015 and start my company LIPS & LOCKS.
My purpose is to create a community of like minded Artists that are passionate about hair + makeup and who, like me, love meeting new people and working with them to create that perfect look.
2018 was a very big year for us...
...My partner Ross and I welcomed our first baby into the world. A baby girl named Casey who was born at the end of May. She is such a happy little one and already has a firm opinion about most things.
We also relocated from Bristol to Topsham in June (yup Casey was one month old!!!) We wanted more space and to be closer to the coast.
In these blog...
...I will be covering most things to do with hair + makeup along with skin care and some tips for Wedding Day touch ups. I will also be touching on topics like 'scheduling a Wedding morning' and 'tips on how to prepare for the perfect consultation'. There will also be some product reviews of products I love and what I usually carry in my kit.
Well that pretty much sums me up for now :) Please feel free to ask me any questions.
Thanks so much for reading
In my next blog I will be talking about the DOs and DONTs of skin care!
